International Certification

By Garrydene Waldie

If you want to become a Microsoft Certified Trainer you need to have achieved a certain level of Microsoft certifications first. Then you must be able to provide a recognised teaching certificate.

If you have neither and you have experience in IT and want to become a Microsoft Certified Trainer then the fastest way is to become a MCDST and then get the Comptia Technical Trainer certification. Then you can apply for MCT status.

The MCDST certification as you know requires 2 exams.
70-271 and 70-272. How long this takes depends on the experience of the person. If you are an experienced IT person then 3 weeks is enough to study the material and pass the exams.

Getting the Comptia Technical Trainer certifiction is quite a mission and there is little help with this in the UK.
First there is the elusive theory that is so hard to get your hands on. You have to master that to pass the CTT+ online exam at an authorised testing centre.

Second you have to show all this theory in action.
This is done by capturing your competency teaching a real class using all the points in a 20 minute video.

You really need a coach helping you with this.

International Certs is going to put on such a training event in the first week of June 2009 at the Wolverhampton Science Park.

For a whole week it is theory and practise and coaching and capturing the action on video. Critic and reruns until it's perfect and then you take your online exam at their authorised testing centre.

So there is going to be one event in June 2009 if you want to become a MCT and you have no training qualifications.
The training, coaching, video and exam all done in 6 days.
It's going to be tough but it is achievable.

There is a shortage of Microsoft Certified Trainers in the UK.

Contributor's Note

So few Microsoft Certified Trainers are produced each year because everyone expects that they need a proper teaching qualification. There is a desparate shortage in the market.
